The Oak Ridge Boys are a country and gospel band that first formed in 1945. They were originally known as the Oak Ridge Quartet, but as their popularity steadily grew they changed their name to the Oak Ridge Boys in the early 1960s. The current members of the Boys are Duane Allen, William Lee Golden, Joe Bonsall and Richard Sterban.
They initially were thought of as a gospel band and today many of their songs do reflect that style, though over the years they gradually changed their style and sound to more of a mix between country and rock. This transition was particularly evident with the release of their album, Yall Come Back Soon in 1977. That album gave them two songs that reached the top five on the charts and their follow-up album eventually gave them two more.
They love to tour to help promote their music and come into closer contact with some of their most dedicated fans. Their most recent album is called Front Row Seats and it is considered a return to mainstream country music coupled with modern arrangements and song selection. These guys are not planning on going anywhere anytime soon, so do yourself a favor and buy their newest CD so that you may jive to some of their most current beats.
