It's no surprise that the next-generation consoles have already been released. This shouldn't mean that the video game consoles of the previous generation, such as the GameCube, Xbox, and PlayStation 2, should be neglected. You see, there used to be a large graphics divide between each console generation, so that when new videogame systems were released, no one wanted to touch their current consoles for the simple reason that they looked a lot inferior graphically to the new systems that have just been released.
It's changed though. That gap has decreased a lot. What this means, is that generally speaking, the difference in graphics is less noticeable. Because of this, the value of the previous generation video game consoles goes way up. To put it simply, don't get rid of your Xbox. There's still a lot of life left in it.
One way to increase the value and life of your Xbox is to have it modded. There are a lot of mods to choose from. That being said, one of the mods that I use allows me to play hundreds, if not thousands, of the games from previous generations, such as; NES, Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo, Atari, and the list continues.
You can also extend the value of your Xbox by going to the used game sections of your local gaming retailer. This is a great way to find software titles that you may have missed out on. Or play games you simply didn't know about, and now have the chance to play. Another great thing about used software titles is that they can be purchased for very cheap. For example, at my local Blockbuster I ended up buying three Xbox games for small costs of only $15.
Let's face it, in today's videogame industry, it would be pretty difficult to find brand-new games for let's say, less than $50 or so. In some cases current generation software titles can go upwards of $50 to $100 or more. Well, there you have it, those are just two ways you can add extra life to your Xbox. If your Xbox is in your closet collecting dust, I think you know what to do now. Good luck!
