Before you go running away, I know, this game isn't exactly new. Yes, it's for the GameCube, and yes, there is another Super Mario game for the nintendo wii that you can get instead of this one. So why am I even writing a review about this game?
The reason is because I feel that this game was over looked by many people, and for the wrong reasons. I also understand that you can purchase the latest Mario game for the Wii. That being said, you can purchase Super Mario Sunshine for really cheap.
Now, one of the biggest reasons why I believe people didn't decide to play this game was because like other Mario games, this one wasn't set in Mushroom Kingdom. It must be said, that's pretty sad if that's the case. Why? Because the game is fun. At least to me.
I'll admit, I was also a little disappointed that the game didn't take place in Mushroom Kingdom, and at times while I was going through the game, I did kind of miss the Mushroom Kingdom. That being said, I enjoyed Sunshine so much that I completely forgot that it didn't take place there.
So what's the game about? Basically, Mario and friends decide to go for a vacation - a place called Isle Delfino. Little do they know that Mario is being set up. A "look-a-like Mario" is responsible for making Isle Delfino dirty - big mess. So, once Mario and friends arrive at the Island, Mario is immediately confiscated and taken to court. The verdict? Guilty as charged.
It is now his responsiblity to clean up the entire Island, and thus, Mario's adventure begins. In sunshine, Mario acquires a water device called FLUDD. This device allows you to clean up the Island with water, because essentially what you are cleaning up is "paint-like goop." This device also allows you to hover using the water for a short period of time.
There are other uses for FLUDD, but I won't mention it, simply because I don't want to spoil the game for you. How are the graphics? Considering that it was a previous console generation game, I would have to say pretty good. The textures are a bit blury, and there is some slow-down at spots. But again, we do have to remember this was released on GameCube, and even today, it still looks quite good.
So there you have it. Do I recommend Super Mario Sunshine? Of course I do, that's the whole point of this article. So, get out there and grab yourself a copy. It shouldn't be hard to find, and it should be quite cheap, in terms of cost.
