I'm sure it's painful for any Xbox 360 owner that has to experience the dreaded red ring of death. If you have been lucky enough not to experience this problem, then that's great. Some estimates have shown that there is a one in three chance of receiving this error. If you are one of the unfortunate ones going through this problem right now, don't fear, because there is a solution which doesn't require your Xbox 360 to leave your house. First, some details on what those error lights mean.
Problems with your console can actually be identified based on the number of lights your system is showing you. If you are seeing one red light, this means your console is experiencing general hardware failure. Two red lights means your system is overheating. In this case, it's recommended to turn off and unplug your console to prevent any damage from happening. For three red lights, check out the next section for how to deal with this. If you are being shown four red lights, this means that your AV cable is loose. Make sure your connection is secure, or replace it if necessary.
If the GPU in your system is loose, one and three red lights will be shown. This happens because of the use of cold soldering and heat generated from the motherboard.
Believe it or not, it is not necessary to take your console back to its manufacturer in order to fix the red ring of death. This can actually be done from your own home. Even for those that aren't really into technology can fix this problem in less than an hour. There are many detailed guides that you can find on the Internet. If you can, look for a guide that demonstrates this process through video format. If the guide requires payment, always make sure there is an option for a refund and a way to get in contact with the seller. This is to ensure that you aren't purchasing junk.
