There are two basic systems for attaching front lace wigs to a persons scalp. One of these systems incorporates a special type of double sided tape that is sticky on both sides. Then there is another type of method for attaching a front lace wig and that is to use a special type of contact cement or glue to hold the wig in place.
Contact Glues
There are several brands of wig glue that can be easily purchased over the Internet. They are contact style adhesives, which means that they function differently that standard adhesives. Contact glue is first applied and then allowed to dry, or set before the two surfaces to be attached are connected to one another.
Minor Irritation
There are a few things that you should know about front lace wig glues. Some people can experience an immediate allergic reaction to them, so if you experience any irritation from using glue, you may want to switch to tape. Also, very little is known about the long term effects of using these types of glues that come into contact with people skin.
Solvents
Almost all of the front lace adhesives that are currently available on the market contain toluene as a solvent. Granted, the amount that you will come into contact with is very small. However much is known about the effects of large amounts of this substance on the human body.
If you were to walk into an auto body paint shop, the person painting the cars will be wearing a mask and a fresh are breathing device. This is because these types of automotive paints also contain toluene which is a very dangerous substance in large amounts. However; in your case it will be in such small amounts that it shouldn't be a problem.
